Overall Responsibility

Designs, manages, and delivers all aspects of superior custom qualitative and quantitative research projects. Demonstrates a deep understanding of the market research needs of pharmaceutical and biotech products in various stages of the product life cycle.  Possesses strong analytic and communication skills, including superior writing ability. Expert in partnering with clients to find creative solutions to address key business issues.  Expands and nurtures existing client relationships, ensuring that clients feel heard, thought about and well cared for.  Actively participates in new business development. Possesses strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory environment.
Responsible for the achievement of specific sales and profitability targets, as agreed annually.  May have supervisory responsibilities for junior/mid-level project staff

Qualitative Research Skills
•    Designs qualitative studies with limited overview by senior staff
•    Proficient in the development of recruitment screeners and topic guides
•    Responsible for overseeing all aspects of recruiting/fieldwork
•    Expert in moderating telephone/in-person in-depth interviews and focus groups
•    Analyzes results and prepares various types of report deliverables, including topline, executive summary (to include conclusions and marketing implications) detailed findings, and presentations with minimal or no guidance from senior staff

Client Interaction
•    Is seen as a consulting partner by clients, bringing both market research expertise and broad industry knowledge to client conversations
•    Presents research findings in an effective and engaging manner
•    Makes strategic recommendations that address the client’s key business questions, based on research results
•    Nurtures and expands existing client relationships
•    Participates actively in new business development

•    Able to work on and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
•    Able to take projects from RFP to completion with little to no guidance
•    Expected to work independently on most projects
•    Work effectively as a team member within a highly collaborative working environment particularly when involved in large projects that require collaboration
•    Demonstrates a strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and a high level of understanding of client research needs at all stages of drug life cycle (Phase 2 through Phase 4 clinical trials, pre-launch promotional development, in-line/mature products) 

Staff Development
•    Mentors and trains junior staff in various aspects of quantitative and qualitative research and pharmaceutical industry knowledge
•    Supervises junior staff during the project cycle and provides effective feedback and input to performance appraisal

Education / Other Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree essential.  Advanced education preferred.
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience as a market researcher in the pharmaceutical industry
